Completing Chapter Seven of Ghosts of Glory High, version 1.1 (and other random thoughts)

2024-09-24

Four and a half months is a bit of time to wait between Insanely Witty Stupidity updates. Did you maked it?? :o I finished re-purposing Ghosts of Glory High's sixth and seventh chapters for the, let's see-- how many times is that? It's the best I've ever seen them look. And (frankly), I'm quite pleased to be moving on from them. I *figured* they would be pretty tough to fit with my latest philosophies. If you've bothered to read chapter seven of my newest Hailey's Follies novel, you know what I'm talking about. To put things into perspective: version 1.0's chapter seven has 461 paragraphs (yeah, wtf??) The re-envisioned copy has 226. And so far, everything in the upcoming release reads smooth as butter. :D From here, I will carry on by writing the fifth and final chapter of my hybridized rodent novella.

My momma was kind enough to provide me with a new Samsung Android device (the Galaxy S24), recently. And of course, one of the first things I tried was using Limbo x86 to run Slackware-11.0 on top of Qemu tcg. And, oh my-- I was stunned to find that my shiny new system can execute x86 byte code faster than some of the older desktops I have laying around. *I* would've bet money the little, cheap fucker had an x86. But actually, it has one of Qualcomm's new X-series Elite ARM processors. And as it turns out, it has a register that can convert x86 instructions to ARM using a hardware library. I had no *idea* Qualcomm was working on such a feat. But, you should see it play zSNES! :D

The point I have to make about this is that-- the ol' d8-rape project (d8-rape 80/30-renders ascii pixel effects) that I've been scheming about might not be a priority for me, anymore. The main reason I conceived of the software suite is so I could easily set up and run familiar video games from my youth on top of Qemu tcg (and optimize them). But when I can get high frame rates and native execution speed for Mega Man X using zSNES, then-- how badly do I need this? I still plan to develop the project. But, it just got demoted in my to-do list. I also came up with the idea to add a Monopoly clone with software players (codenamed "San Antonio" until I come up with something better).

Recently, I started developing some pretty complicated PHP code to present Insanely Witty Stupidity as plain text (including its artwork). So far, I've developed a standard for importing html with a series of slashed characters. But, I also started targeting html tags directly (so that I could simply add html code in-line and the text would break over after so many columns). If you'll skim /iws/txt/themes_ascii.txt carefully, you'll find that url requests can be used to set values like the number of columns to wrap.

So instead of fitting a web page to a user's browser, my code allows a user to set the number of columns (for example). I've added additional features like adding slashed tags after void type tags (for browsers like emacs eww which do not process void tags properly). I plan on adding a library for writing characters using ascii art fonts as well. Eventually, I plan to switch Insanely Witty Stupidity to this format. But for now, I'm struggling to finish (because the people in my life would rather see me scrubbing old carpet than completing useful work). I'm hoping I can spend some time this coming weekend to complete the html tags interpreter. But, we'll see about that. ;)

I haven't been linking many Insanely Thoughtful Articles, lately. And-- haven't missed it much (to be perfectly honest, lol). But, I digress-- I would like to get back into checking the news at least a couple times a week. I particularly enjoy studying the electric universe model of our cosmos and linking new videos. But, I mean-- there's only so much Trump and Brandon people can write about. You know? I get bored reading about the same three political problems. And, I know other people get bored reading what I have to say about them (lol). Pretty much, gotta make time for better material. And, I simply don't have a lot of time to spend poking around. Be looking for an update some time during the next couple of months when I complete "The Critical Mass of the Hybridized Rodent". I'm dying to see how it turns out! xD
