2024-11-11 Well-- "The Critical Mass of the Hybridized Rodent" (a five chapter story I've been working on for about twenty-seven months, now) is up for grabs. And, I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. :D The looks for the page are a bit different than Insanely Witty Stupidity's usual style ("evil_mode" sets dark on light-- which is something I always planned on doing). And, there's a piece of ascii art and table of contents with "highlighter" links (lol). The project uses a new themes header I've been working on for a while, now. And, it wraps text to columns like a terminal (with word breaking). By default, the columns value is 80 (and will overlap browsers forging less than 80 columns). But, a user can set this to any value between 1 and 192 (for example, maybe you'd like to set the value to 40 so the page fits an Android device in portrait orientation). I've been working out an ascii art library for the site (some samples can be seen here). And when I'm finished, I'll switch all pages to this same format (although-- evil_mode will def be light on dark, lol). Images will be converted to ascii art as well (using the ol' caca library) in order to fit them to pages and make everything resemble a plain text terminal. I've been wanting to make Insanely Witty Stupidity more "artsy" for a while. And rather than put images all over the place, I thought it might be more fitting to make ascii art. What's really cool about the design is that-- the site will (basically) look the same in a terminal as it does with a graphical interface. My themes header has some additional features (like-- using netpbm instead of caca to convert images on two color terminals) that I will eventually cover in Insanely Witty Stupidity's manual. Some other interesting features of my themes header are things like-- oh, I can set an override for image processing that will always be the setting (for example, I can switch them to regular html img tags in case I find that image processing is causing too much overhead: the ol' "--type-write-image%20html_img" setting). So, don't be thinking you can ddos attack the shit outta me ('cause yeah, already thought about that a bit). I'm very pleased Mr. Trump's gonna get his second term (although-- I'm quite disturbed at Allan Lichtman's lack of insight about our civilization). And, I've seen many are pretty horrified by the way democrats are responding (although, I'm not entirely sure why-- that is the nature of the modern democrat party). Ultimately the swingers voted for lower milk prices, this time around (but next time, who knows??) I'd like to try and write Insanely Thoughtful Article links more regularly (see Insanely Witty Stupidity's index page, near the bottom). Lately, I've been linking news articles about once or twice a month (depending on my mood). I haven't had a lot of enthusiasm about reading the news, lately (I keep finding the same, ol' drivel-- and it bores me absolutely to tears, lol). I'd like to spend more time checking in with the Thunderbolts project. So, we'll see if I can fit that in on the weekends or something. ;) For now, the plan is to complete Ghosts of Glory High, version 1.1 (which is looking *great*, btw!) by revising chapters 8, 9, and 10. If you enjoy the literature of the ol' "Critical Mass", you're gonna love what I'm doing with that story. :D And eventually, I'm gonna revise Hailey's Comet (brutally dissected edition) the same way. So, stay tuned! |
Random Fact: Insanely Witty Stupidity's icon (the "Oracle") is mysterious and perplexing. The more a person stares at it-- the more bizarre it appears. In reality, the logo is merely three letters inside of a yellow circle. Weird, huh? |
