"The Critical Mass of the Hybridized Rodent" Work Officially Begins (and-- wtf is a "light gun"?)

2022-12-27

I completed chapter two of my (incredibly thoughtful) hybridized rodent saga. And, I set up chapter three using its remaining material and began developing (finally)-- brand new material! I'm so excited!! xD So far, I've got some carefully crafted sentence structures outlining an enjoyable narrative. And, it reads like butter. And (as I predicted), hammering out brand new material is a piece of cake. Like I said, it feels like four times as much work when I gotta combine ancient literature with unprecedented technique. My girlfriend's still hangin' around (she likes me? wtf??) And, there's God damn cats all over me (at all times). So, progress remains slow (for now).

I went and sawed my sister (in Colorado). I feel very pleased after visiting with her. For the first time ever (I think), she seems happy with a new boyfriend. He's a great guy (from what I've seen of him). He's not a narcissistic dick-head. He's not even a piece of shit who likes to rub doodoo in other people's faces (simply for the pleasure of smearing feces for no good reason). Feces. Faces. Well, well. It's quite cold up there in that part of the states. And, people can't drive for shit (my gahhhd, man). Also, it's perfectly legal to be walkin' around with the ol' pot meister (if you feel like destroying your brain like an idiot).

Personally, Mary Jane be droppin' my potassium levels too much (I suffer from chronic hypokalemia-- necessitating the ingestion of a daily supplement). And, that retarded shit tends to drop me into a hypokalemic crisis (which could put me in a permanent coma or even kill me). Simply being around the shit for a short period of time could mean my instant death. So, I hope people are respectful enough not to pollute the air with that idiotic trash. But, I have a feeling people dumb enough to fuck up their brains with psychotropic chemicals because they find themselves bored for ten seconds (when there is plenty to be fixed in this fucked up world) are probably not very thoughtful. Yeah, I'll trash talk *anybody* on the Witty News meister (don't think you're special). ;)

I found I was unable to use a couple of infrared (not cathode laser, mind you ;) ) light guns I got layin' around to play some MAME meister. A GNU/Linux system seems to have no trouble allowing the interfaces' microcontrollers to pilot a mouse cursor (easy to pull off when a device has a very thoughtful calibration system built right in). Unfortunately when I send mouse signals-- MAME sets upper, left corner viewport coordinates. So, I'm developing this library that polls input from a file descriptor for triggers (defined in a user text file). And, it writes commands (also defined as plain text) on a different file descriptor. And (obviously), it'll have a testing mode (so that a user can determine which file descriptor contains a device's input). And, a user will be able to set descriptor paths.

So far, I just got a bunch of event definitions (something like 40,000 lines already!) And, the idea is that a user can define event names (such as simple "contact-a" or "contact-mouse-left" or complex "release-ctrl-alt-esc-tilde"). And (obviously), I'll exhaust what I consider to be the most obvious combinations. But, I mean-- who am *I* to say what a user thinks my software should look for? Other people may have some interesting new ideas I never considered (and will hopefully be able to add them to my list if they would like). And, I worked out all the options I think the binary should have. I haven't been working on this, lately. But, I do plan to complete the project some time soon. And, I will happily share it with Insanely Witty Stupidity hackers if they find it useful. :D So, keep checking for that.

Random Fact: Insanely Witty Stupidity's icon (the "Oracle") is mysterious and perplexing. The more a person stares at it-- the more bizarre it appears. In reality, the logo is merely three letters inside of a yellow circle. Weird, huh?
