09-29-2019 So-- Insanely Witty Stupidity gots a serious makeover. As a user, changes to the code may not be immediately apparent. But, I went through every single page and re-wrote code. I did this for a couple reasons. For one thing, I wanted to be able to change things like a font or add an icon without having to, well-- re-write code on every single page. There is now a single file with font settings and colors (et cetera) that is written to every single page. And, there is also a single file with all the icons (.png versions and ascii art versions). So while I was at it, it occurred to me that I could add a new feature. And, I realized I could add a new link with a button to every page that allows a user to choose a theme. So when you connect to insanely I'm very excited about this new feature! But most of all, I'm happy I can now change an element of the website's theme by modifying a single file (technically, there are a couple different versions for special pages like the Case's Cases and Catastrophic Capers of L.I.N. & Chuck portals). I plan on adding a Halloween theme. It will become the default during the period of October 1 - October 31. But, it will become unavailable on other dates. So-- about that... I also added a "command-line" type option to the themes file. And, it allows a user to set a theme by adding an option to a url. I mainly did this because it will allow a user who doesn't store a browser history (like myself) to bookmark an Insanely Witty Stupidity page that uses a specific theme. By default, insanely So, you can set a theme by appending a question mark to an Insanely Witty Stupidity url and adding the "--theme" option. For example, you can open the index page in happy mode like this: http:// I wrote another plot summary for the next Hailey's Follies novel. Would you believe it's been over ten years since I wrote Hailey's Comet? :o If I'm not mistaken, this is the third time I've attempted to write a second book. I have hated every plot summary I wrote so far. I would write a summary. Then, I would quickly lose interest and give up on the project. I wondered if I was going to have to give up on the series. But, *this* plot summary is so good-- it will get written. However, it's going to take me a while to finish. I finished the plot summary at the end of April. But, I've been sidetracked with so many projects since then, I haven't had a chance to start writing it. It's verrry frustrating because the plot is sooo good. :D It's titled "Ghosts of Glory High". And, I hope to have it in the works by the end of the year. It depends on whether people allow me to have any time for myself during the next few months. * Update (09-30-2019)-- Halloween mode is now available. I plan on making additional changes to the theme (like gorifying the main icons and changing the link names to more fitting Halloween names).
